Jupiter Shines?
Why Jupiter Shines? I am a Gemini. That means that at the moment I was born, the sun was in Gemini. Jupiter, Mercury and the North node of the moon were all also in Gemini. This grouping is referred to in astrology as a stellium.
The sun in astrology shows where you shine. It is our creative self, the force of our will, the part of us that for most people is most obvious.
Gemini is charming, talkative, flighty, difficult to pin down and ever changing. It is the butterfly flitting from flower to flower, pollinating and both taking a little from and giving a little to everything it touches.
Jupiter expands. It is high minded and lofty. Where ever Jupiter falls in your chart, you will not sink. It lends buoyancy. The word most often associated with Jupiter is “luck”.
All of this action takes place in the seventh house of my chart. This area of ones chart rules partnerships, others. I am compelled to speak. I must share my message, participate in the give and take and form connections with people so that all are enhanced by the experience.

An Intention of Love
One of the most important things to be aware of when reading is setting your intention. It is trickier than it sounds. You’ll need to pay attention to all of the ways that your beliefs affect what the way you use the cards. Tarot, like any spiritual practice, falls in the realm of Neptune and the 12th house. That means it is an inherently leaky system. The information you seek leaks through in between the lines of reality and so will any fears or doubts.
Message from the Universe
Do you ever get what you know is a clear message from the universe? I do and I had a pretty potent one recently.
I have been struggling with pain for years and my ability to do my day job, dog groomer, is impacted by this. Seeking a solution, I went to a new chiropractor. My hope was to get relief from the chronic pain and increase my ability to make money as a dog groomer, or at least preserve my current level of function.
On my way to my second adjustment, I was rear ended. There was no damage to either car, but I knew immediately they my neck had been injured. My hands went numb right away. I am now only able to groom about half as many dogs as I was grooming before.
I am making changes to deal with this new state and it’s going to be ok, but the first thing I wondered was what is the message here.
This week I have invested new energy into my astrology and Tarot business with encouraging results. Today I remembered that it was the minor car accident that triggered this chain of events and shifted my goals from full time dog groomer with hope of having my own shop to dreaming of supporting myself through full time readings and writing.
Jupiter is strategically placed in my chart to bring strange lock through adversity. Jupiter in the sky now is activating this natal placement. Sometimes I wish for an easier life. Most of the time I laugh at the sky (occasionally through tears) and look for the silver lining that it’s invariably peeking through.

Sagittarius Sun, Aquarius Moon
Sagittarius is the bold adventurer, the eternal student and seeker of knowledge. It is mutable fire and all of the mutable signs have a duality to them. The conflict for Sag is man vs beast. Civilized, learned, cultured or primal, powerful and raw. The trick for Sagittarius is to artfully blend the two sides, to act with grace and refinement without sacrificing any of their power and passion.
Today’s subject has sun in Sagittarius sun along with Neptune and Venus. The latter two gentle planets soften the legendary bluntness of this fiery sign. Venus lends grace and generosity, and an appreciation for beauty and manners. Neptune obscures and so he is compelled to seek validation, clarification of self perception.
This grouping falls in his second house, the house of possessions. Second house people feel safest when their things are in order. I don’t mean tidy and catalogued. They are happiest when they have what they need and have the resources to get the things they are going to need. Job security, steady income, these things help keep the 2nd house person happy. In this case, the material things are accumulated to a large degree in order that they may be shared.
Mercury’s placement reveals how the mind works and this one has Mercury in Capricorn in the house of communication. Capricorn brings a sense of responsibility to the style of thought and speech. It also brings fears and self doubts to be overcome. Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn, supports this mind. If care is taken, he is an effective communicator. No shortcuts though. He has learned from experience that the job of thinking and speaking clearly must be handled with consistency and care.
Where Sagittarius sun is bold and vibrant, we also have here an Aquarius moon, sensitive and cool. Moon in Aquarius is like a musical instrument, perhaps imagine a harp. The strings so delicately strung that the slightest breeze sets them humming. Aquarius moon learns to limit input so that it can hear each note in turn in order to avoid being overwhelmed by clashing melodies. In this case, moon is at home in the 4th house, the house of home, family, roots and mother. Family is important and family is complex, sometimes challenging.
And if this sensitive moon weren’t enough, we also see Aquarius ruler, Uranus, in the first house, shaping the self. Perception of self and impact on others is seen in the ascendant and the first house. Scorpio ascendant guards while Uranus shakes things up. Uranus greets you there with funny and surprising jokes, little random thoughts and quirky traits. The man himself has learned to use these to his advantage, to charm and entertain, but for him sometimes this placement creates a storm at his threshold and he will seek solitude in order to recharge.
The planets I’ve outlined tell some of the story, but this only scratches the surface. We have a mystic rectangle, trines, sextiles and oppositions leading these players in an elaborate dance. There is more grace here than he knows and challenges he is all too familiar with.
A Champ
She’s a champ and she’s a star. She fights for love and she loves to fight but better if the fight is all in fun. Aries women have a warrior spirit. They are more likely to choose red over pink, jeans over skirts and boots over heels.
This warrior girl has a Leo ascendant and Leo is the star. People notice her when she walks into a room. Jupiter hangs back a little just behind that bold Leo facade, a perpetual angel on her shoulder, bringing along a knowing smile from God knows where about heaven knows what.
She isn’t all fight though. There is a softer side as well. A love of pretty things and special people. Libra moon softens every blow, sweetens the pot and brings grace and gentleness that might catch you off guard if you aren’t careful.
She’s a study in extremes. Nothing about her is half hearted. She will champion the underdog and fight for what’s right and with a tricky Gemini Mars, she can outmaneuver even the most clever strategists.
She is a study in contrasts. Her life is equal parts charmed and cursed. She was dealt a hand of cards that could win or lose any game and her edge is her fighting spirit. When she wins, you know she earned it and thanks to her upbeat and somewhat quirky spirit, everyone was rooting for her all along.
It’s her birthday and her solar return chart predicts a dynamic year ahead. Gemini Moon
The moon is in Aquarius today and I am pondering attachment vs detachment. I am also pondering another moon sign and it’s impact in the birth chart.
The Lovers tarot card is associated with the sign Gemini. All of the mutable signs have a distinct duality and with Gemini the split is masculine/feminine. The challenge for each of the mutable signs is to marry the opposing forces within and find graceful ways for them to work together.
Maggie, the soft coated wheaton terrier, whose mom cut some matts out to “help”. She will look great after her next groom.
Our card for today is The Emperor. Who is running this show? Are you in control of your life, your destiny? If not, who do you think is? Your options may be limited but you are not a helpless pawn. DO something.
Our card for today is The Hanged Man. The Hanged Man does not die. He exists in a state of suspended animation. He sacrifices indefinitely. What are you trading for forward movement in your life? Is it worth it? How long will you hang there and what will you have gained for your suffering?
Our card for today is the Three of Wands, also called Virtue. Keep walking your path. You have the determination and drive to get where you’re going. Where is it that you are going?
Our card for today is The Empress. The Empress speaks of the need to be determined and powerful in order to achieve those dreams we mentioned yesterday. Once you’ve drifted through the clouds for a while, it’s time to touch your feet to the earth, open your eyes and get to work making it all happen. Now listen. This is important. If you go for what you want, some people are going to object. Let yourself be guided by wisdom, by compassion, by integrity. Do not let yourself be guided or dissuaded by those who call you names and stand in your way.
